Pool Weasel Vacuum Users Guide

Everything you need to set up, operate, and maintain your Pool Weasel system — from first prime to troubleshooting.

THE POWER CORD USED TO OPERATE THE POOL WEASEL MUST ALWAYS BE PLUGGED INTO A G.F.I. RECEPTACLE.

Getting Started

  1. Position the Pool Weasel unit poolside, near a G.F.I.-protected outlet, with clear access to the water's edge.
  2. Insert the return hose into the pool, securing the outlet end so return water flows back into the pool.
  3. Attach the vacuum head to the telescopic pole.
  4. Attach the vacuum hose to the strainer basket inlet on the unit.
  5. Submerge the vacuum head fully in the pool to bleed air from the hose.
  6. Fill the strainer basket with water to prime the pump before starting.
  7. Plug the power cord into a G.F.I.-protected receptacle.
  8. Flip the switch to begin priming — allow about 3 minutes for the unit to fully prime before vacuuming.

Vacuuming Tips

Vacuuming Pool Walls

Tilt the vacuum head slightly to keep full contact with the wall surface as you work upward, and slow your pace near the water line to avoid breaking suction.

Freeing Snagged Debris

If the head snags on a drain, ladder, or fitting, gently pull straight back rather than yanking sideways.

Relocating the Unit

  1. Unplug the power cord from the G.F.I. receptacle.
  2. Turn off the unit switch.
  3. Remove the return hose from the pool.
  4. Keep the vacuum head submerged, or lift it just enough to avoid losing prime.
  5. Move the unit to the new location, keeping hoses as level as possible.
  6. Re-submerge the vacuum head at the new location.
  7. Replace the return hose in the pool.
  8. Plug back into the G.F.I. receptacle and restart.

Cleaning the Filters

Basket Filter

Empty and rinse the basket filter as needed during operation. It catches secondary debris and keeps suction consistent.

Cartridge Filter

When the pressure gauge reads 10–15 PSI above its normal starting pressure, switch off power, release pressure, remove the cartridge, and rinse from top to bottom.

Vacuum-to-Waste

When and how to vacuum to wastePost-cover removal, algae, storm debris, or draining

Vacuum-to-waste mode sends debris straight out of the system instead of through the filter — the right call after removing a winter cover, clearing a heavy algae bloom, cleaning up storm-blown sand and debris, or draining a pool. Adapter procedure: 1 Remove the cartridge filter from the unit. 2 Insert the waste adapter in its place. 3 Attach the vacuum hose to the adapter. 4 Direct the return line to an approved waste or drainage location, not back into the pool.

  1. Remove the cartridge filter from the unit.
  2. Insert the waste adapter in its place.
  3. Attach the vacuum hose to the adapter.
  4. Direct the return line to an approved waste or drainage location, not back into the pool.

Troubleshooting

Pool Weasel Will Not Prime or Loses Prime

  • Check the strainer cartridge or basket for debris and clogs.
  • Check the vacuum head inlet for a clog.
  • Check that the strainer basket lid is fully seated.
  • Check the hose swivel cuff for cracks or a loose connection.
  • Check for an unplugged impeller.
Impeller Clogged? Full Clearing ProcedureImpeller blades have sharp edges — handle with care.
  1. Unplug the unit from power.
  2. Turn off the switch.
  3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the strainer basket.
  4. Remove the strainer basket lid.
  5. Remove the strainer basket.
  6. Loosen and remove the stainless steel band clamp securing the pump housing.
  7. Remove the diffuser screws.
  8. Carefully lift away the diffuser to expose the impeller.
  9. Clear any debris lodged in the impeller by hand.
  10. Reassemble the diffuser and secure the screws.
  11. Reattach the band clamp, strainer basket, and lid, reconnect the hose, and re-prime as described in Getting Started.
Impeller blades have sharp edges. Handle with care and consider wearing gloves.
Thermal Overload or Tripped BreakerIf the unit repeatedly trips, stop use and contact a licensed electrician.
